Daily Nomad ("we," "our," or "us") operates the website mydailynomad.com and the Daily Nomad mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

Information We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google account.

Trip data: We store the trips you create, including destinations, dates, traveler profiles (ages and group composition), activity preferences, and itinerary selections you make within the app.

Payment information: Subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We never store your credit card number or full payment details. We receive your Stripe customer ID and subscription status.

Usage data: We collect standard web analytics data including pages visited, features used, and trip generation requests. This helps us improve the product.

Device information: We collect browser type, operating system, and screen size through standard web server logs.

How We Use Your Information

• To generate and store personalized trip itineraries based on your preferences
• To enable trip sharing and collaboration between you and your travel companions
• To process subscription payments through Stripe
• To send transactional emails such as trip invitations and password resets
• To improve the product and fix bugs

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate Daily Nomad:

• Supabase — Database and authentication. Stores your account and trip data.
• Stripe — Payment processing. Handles subscription billing securely.
• Google Places API — Venue data. Used server-side for hours checking and place search. No personal data is sent.
• Google OAuth — Authentication. Used only if you choose "Sign in with Google."
• Anthropic API — Powers trip generation and route optimization. We send trip parameters (destination, dates, traveler counts) but no personal identifying information.
• Viator — Affiliate booking links. Clicking a booking link takes you to viator.com, which is subject to their own privacy policy.
• Resend — Email delivery. Sends trip invitation and transactional emails.
• Vercel — Web hosting. Standard web server logs are maintained.
• OpenWeatherMap — Weather data. Location-based weather lookups using destination coordinates only, no personal data.

Data Retention

• Account and trip data is retained as long as your account is active.
• If you delete your account, your data will be removed within 30 days.
• Affiliate link cache data (Viator) is automatically cleared after 7 days and is not tied to user accounts.

Your Rights

• Access: You can view all your trip data directly within the app.
• Deletion: You can request complete account deletion by emailing support@mydailynomad.com.
• Export: You can request a data export by emailing support@mydailynomad.com.
• Correction: You can update your profile information directly in the app settings.

Children's Privacy

Daily Nomad is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Cookies and Local Storage

• We use authentication session cookies required for login functionality.
• We use localStorage for offline trip data caching and user preferences (such as dark mode).
• We do not use third-party advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or ad networks.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed by our authentication provider (Supabase Auth). Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
